Police acknowledge one-year anniversary of Baby Doe

I would like to acknowledge that tomorrow marks the one-year anniversary of the discovery of Baby Doe’s body at a recycling facility in Onehunga.

Some members of the community have chosen to name the baby Anahera.

Police have continued to make extensive enquiries since the newborn was found at the Onehunga site on August 16th 2021, however we are sadly still yet to identify her mother, father or wider family.

UPDATE – Arrests made in relation to Mt Roskill firearms incident

Police have arrested and charged two people in relation to a firearms incident that occurred in Mt Roskill on Wednesday morning.

An investigation has been ongoing into the incident that occurred on Fulljames Ave around 3.10am and saw one person transported to hospital with a gunshot wound.

The victim remains in hospital in a stable condition.

As a result of ongoing enquiries one 16-year-old has been arrested and charged with wounding with reckless disregard.

Protest activity in central Auckland concludes without issue

Protesters involved in today’s gathering in central Auckland have now dispersed.

Around 500 people congregated in Auckland Domain today to engage in protest activity.

In general, this was a peaceful protest, which Police monitored accordingly.

While there were no arrests or incidents of note, Police will complete a review phase in the coming weeks to determine if any follow-up action is required.

Prepare for traffic disruption in central Auckland today

Police and Waka Kotahi are advising motorists to be aware of the potential for planned protests to cause some disruption to traffic today in Tāmaki Makaurau.

Locations that protesters are expected to gather, including Auckland Domain, will be monitored by Police.

Police ask the community to be patient on the roads as we expect there might be some traffic delays and disruptions, particularly near the Domain, and the surrounding areas.

Police investigating, arrests made in burglaries across Auckland City overnight

Three people have been arrested following two incidents in Auckland City and an appeal is underway for information in regards to a string of burglary incidents overnight.

Just after 2am, a Police unit observed a vehicle travelling at speed from a location in Royal Oak. The vehicle failed to stop for Police and while no pursuit was initiated, the vehicle was spiked a short distance away.

Royal Oak jewellery store aggravated robbery arrests

Four people have been arrested following an aggravated robbery of a jewellery store at the Royal Oak Shopping Mall yesterday afternoon.

At approximately 3pm yesterday Police were called to the Royal Oak Shopping Mall after three offenders stole tens of thousands of dollars’ worth of jewellery from a jewellery store and left in a stolen vehicle.

They were not immediately located by Police.

Youth Aid referrals after Kohimarama dairy burglary

Three youths have been referred to Youth Aid following a burglary at a Kohimarama dairy early this morning in which a car was used to enter the premises.

At approximately 3.15am a car was driven into the premises and several grocery items were taken.

A short time later in Glenn Innes Police attended a burglary in which the car from the dairy burglary was seen leaving. Air Support Unit Eagle tracked the vehicle which was subsequently spiked, and three occupants ran to a neighbouring property where they were located and taken into Police custody.

Police lay charges over sexual assault incident

Police have identified a man previously sought as part of our investigation into an alleged sexual assault in central Auckland last weekend.

The 32-year-old man has been arrested and charged over the incident on 24 July.

He has been charged with assault with intent to commit rape, burglary, indecent assault and three counts of doing an indecent act.

The man is due to appear in the Auckland District Court today.
