Do you know this man? Police seek public’s help in sexual assault investigation

Police are appealing for the public’s assistance in identifying a man in relation to a sexual assault in central Auckland.

The incident occurred on Sunday night at a residential complex on Albert Street.

A male offender has gained entry to the complex and has sexually assault a female resident in a communal area.

Police have now laid charges following a firearms incident in Grey Lynn last week.

A 32-year-old man has been charged with aggravated burglary, unlawful possession of a firearm and presenting a firearm in relation to the the Wallingford Street incident on 18 July.

He is due to appear in the Auckland City District Court today.

A number of investigations relating to the incident last week remain ongoing at present.

Man shot by Police in Grey Lynn following firearms incident

Police have shot and injured a 32-year-old man following an armed incident in Grey Lynn earlier this evening.

The man is now in a critical condition in hospital.

“Police staff were initially called to Wallingford Street in Grey Lynn just after 5pm after being notified a man in an agitated state was standing on the street with a firearm,” says Auckland City District Commander Superintendent Karyn Malthus.

“Prior to Police arriving, the man has fired several shots from the street at a house we now understand was his own residence.

Grey Lynn: Police shooting + Media Advisory

A person has been shot and seriously injured by Police following an armed incident on Wallingford Street in Grey Lynn early this evening.

Auckland City District Commander Superintendent Karyn Malthus will hold a stand-up in relation to this incident at 8.40pm at the Auckland Central Police Station, College Hill, Freemans Bay.

Please assemble outside the front doors.

Operation Samson sees over $2.4 million cash, drugs and firearm seized

Police have seized more than $2.4 million in cash, as an investigation continues to shed light on the activities of a trans-national organised crime group operating in New Zealand.

The National Organised Crime Group investigation, named Operation Samson, continues to investigate people and entities connected to the New Zealand chapter of the Hells Angels Motorcycle Club.

Update – Onehunga homicide

Police have now charged a man with the murder of Maria Brown.

A homicide investigation was launched after the 77-year-old was found deceased at her Onehunga address on 5 June, 2022.

A 49-year-old man has today been charged with murder and arson.

He is due to appear in the Auckland District Court on Thursday 21 July.

Police want to acknowledge Maria’s family and friends during this extremely difficult time.
