Precious and irreplaceable bonsai trees stolen from home garden in Mt Albert

Police are appealing for public assistance after the theft of 45 Bonsai trees from a residential address in Mount Albert, last Sunday and into Monday.

For decades the owner of the miniature trees has lovingly sculpted, nurtured and cared for the trees.

Auckland West Police District, Acting Detective Sergeant Thomas Malcolm says; “This should be compared to the loss of irreplaceable art and involves a man’s life-long commitment to their care.

Missing male located – Royal Oak

A 74-year old male missing from the Royal Oak area has been located safe and well.

Police would like to thank the public for their assistance.

Clarification – Auckland Domain gathering

Location:

Auckland City

Police are issuing a further advisory to media around two people charged over the gathering at Auckland Domain on Saturday.

The 60-year-old woman previously mentioned as appearing in court today will instead be released on Police bail to appear in court at a later stage.

The 63-year-old man is still set to appear in the Auckland District Court by audio visual link later today.

Update into Auckland Domain gathering last weekend

Police have taken enforcement action against two people after a gathering was held on Saturday in breach of Auckland’s Alert level restrictions.

This morning the two individuals were arrested in relation to the event held at Auckland Domain.

A 63-year-old man has been charged with Failing to Comply with Order (COVID-19) under the COVID-19 Public Health Response Act and will also be appearing for breach of his bail conditions.

New breakthrough in Operation Sturbridge to be revealed tonight

New information is set to be revealed into the rape and murder of Alicia O’Reilly in Avondale over 40 years ago.

Police will be releasing additional details on the Cold Case programme that have been uncovered as part of a review into the homicide investigation.

On 16 August 1980, 6-year-old Alicia O’Reilly was found murdered in her bed at the family home on Canal Road in Avondale.

The investigation into her murder has remained open since, despite a lengthy initial investigation and subsequent reviews.

Update on missing woman found in Sandringham

Police continue to carry out enquiries to establish the circumstances around Cindy Li’s movements before she was located on Saturday morning.

She was located by Police alone inside a nearby address on Tranmere Road in a critical condition.

First aid was provided initially by Police staff prior to ambulance arrival where she was subsequently transported to hospital.

Cindy does not show any signs of physical injuries however she was extremely dehydrated at the time she was located.

Missing Sandringham woman located

A 70-year-old Sandringham woman reported missing on Tuesday 9 November has been located.

Police found the woman at an address near her Tranmere Road home around midday today.

She is in a critical but stable condition in the Intensive Care Unit of Auckland Hospital and enquiries are under way to determine what has occurred.

Police would like to thank all those who provided information during the extensive search.

Prepare for traffic disruption in central Auckland this weekend

Police are aware of the potential for planned protests to cause some disruption to traffic this weekend in Tāmaki Makaurau.

Locations that protesters are expected to gather, including Auckland Domain, will be monitored by Police.

Police ask the community to be patient on the roads as we expect there might be some traffic delays and disruptions, particularly near the Domain on Saturday and in the wider CBD on Sunday.

Police release CCTV footage as search for Cindy Li continues

Police investigating the disappearance of 70-year-old Sandringham woman Cindy Li are releasing CCTV footage of her last known sighting.

Cindy was reported missing to Police after she left on foot from an address on Tranmere Road on the morning of Tuesday 9th November.

Despite an extensive area canvas and ongoing search and rescue efforts, she has not been located and enquiries to date have not been able to establish her movements past this point.
