Shortly after 10.30am today, Police were notified that a person who had previously tested positive for COVID-19 had escaped a managed quarantine facility in Ellerslie.

Police have cordoned off an Ōtāhuhu address and are preparing to arrest the individual.

Police are liaising with the Ministry of Health on this matter to understand this person’s movements since he left the MIQ facility and being located in Ōtāhuhu.

Operation Daleyza – Police seek to identify those who used Mt Albert walkway

Police investigating the alleged murder of Lena Zhang Harrap are seeking to identify a number of people who have been seen on CCTV walking through a walkway in Mt Albert on the day of her death.

As a result of extensive CCTV enquiries, dozens of people have been seen walking through the walkway which links Grande Avenue and Summit Drive, near Owairaka/Mt Albert Domain, on Wednesday 22nd September, the day Lena was killed.

Arrests made following post shop and building site burglaries in Auckland City

Three people have been arrested following an investigation into a number of burglary incidents that have occurred during the Alert Level 4 lockdown period.

Yesterday officers from the Auckland City West Area’s Tactical Crime Unit, with assistance from the Financial Crime Unit, carried out search warrants at two properties in Mount Albert and Mount Roskill.

A 27-year-old woman has been charged with a number of offences including 8 burglaries in the Auckland City Area.

Te Ariki Poulgrain arrested

Police have now located Te Ariki Poulgrain, who escaped from Corrections custody on 30 June 2021.

Since his escape Police have been making a number of enquiries to locate the 23-year-old and he was arrested at an address in Ōtara today.

He will face a charge of escapes custody and is expected to appear in Auckland District Court via AVL on Monday 13 September 2021.

As this matter is now before the Courts, Police are not able to comment further.

Panmure homicide: Police charge man with murder

Police have charged a man with murder in relation to the homicide investigation into the death of John Ioane in Panmure on 23rd August 2021.

A 48-year-old man was initially charged with common assault.

He is now due to appear in the Auckland District Court today to face a Murder charge as well as a separate assault charge, which allegedly relates to another individual in this matter.

As the matter is before the courts, Police are not in a position to comment further.

Police carry out DNA testing to help find baby girl’s mother

Police investigating after the discovery of a baby girl’s body at a recycling facility are carrying out a DNA phase in a bid to find out what happened to her and identify her mother.

Police have been making a number of extensive enquiries since the newborn was found at the Onehunga site on August 16th, and are now working through a DNA database to help find her mother.

Police in full PPE have arrested a man who was located at an Ōtāhuhu address after escaping a quarantine facility earlier today, and have taken him into custody.

The man has been charged under the Health Order with failing to comply with order (Covid-19) and he has appeared in the Auckland District Court via a contactless video link this afternoon.

A judge has bailed him to return to a managed quarantine facility.
